(1)I realized that there is always a solution to Jeanette's family's problems. It's problem after problem and solution after solution. (3) Jeanette has a stay at the hospital and actually enjoys the hospital. Jeanette would rather live at the hospital rather than her home. (7) Jeanette's parents always had trouble with money and later on in the book it shows how Jeanette's mom was digging through the trash, and living outside.

1) Rosemary tells Jeanette that Grandma Smith died. At first I thought Rosemary was understanding of her moms death because of how she said everybody has a time to go, but then questioned Rosemary's childhood. Is Rosemary only okay with her moms death and living situation because it was better than before?

4) Jeanette and her siblings not getting along with their grandmother was really relatable as my siblings and I don't get along with ours. I used to think family is family no matter what but I have seen what family can do. Though you should never put your hands on people I stand with Jeanette and her siblings.

3) I think in the olden days others would side with Jeanette's grandmother. I see how some might think that Rosemary's children are brats and Jeanette is a danger since she plays with fire. And during the fight with the grandmother people might question whether or not the kids had the right to fight with the grandma.

2) Due to Jeanette's economic conditions her and her family have had to move around many times. After having no money left they decided to go to Welch to stay with Jeanette's grandparents. Jeanette's grandparents didnt have the best living conditions either. Jeanette and her siblings ate lard and bread. Jeanette and her siblings dont even sleep on a mattress. To keep in mind that Jeanette isnt even close to being an adult. They rely on unclean water and makeshift solutions, who knows how safe Jeanette's homemade braces are. The lack of proper care for Jeanette and her siblings can maybe lead to a consequence.

Social class plays a huge role in the book as it shows how much Jeanette and her family struggle financially. They move from city to city trying to find ways to gather up money. Rather than buying necessities for their children, Rosemary and Rex buy alcohol and materialistic things. Jeanette's dad, Rex, likes to drink whenever he can with whatever money he gets. Rosemary, Jeanette's mom, likes to spend their money on expensive items that wont even be used. Rosemary just likes to keep things to feel how the rich feel.
