His father needs him to not be so wimpy and start shaping up! He only has a little bit of time to convince his father before its too late and winds up in military school.

It was difficult for them to move here with learning a new language and not knowing where anything is, but they persisted and because of that are now living a better life for the both of them. Geared towards younger students who their families might have faced the same challenges but its good for adults who are privileged as well to read to gain more sympathy.

This book would be geared to younger elementary school girls who's minds are being shaped and are vulnerable to social media. No matter what people say- girls can do anything when they put in hard work and don't quit. This book is about 13 famous women in history who have persisted and kept up with their goals and have done many remarkable things in time such as Helen Keller, Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubman even though men and other women told them no. When someone tells you no, keep pushing no matter what. A good book for culturally relevancy .

Dear Girl is new book that I enjoyed reading on 9/5 and ended reading on 9/5. This is a fiction book about the young girl being able to accomplish anything she puts her mind to. The author tells the young girl that she is perfect the way she is and to not settle for anything less than the stars. She wishes for the girl to be happy when there are happy times and to let the girl know when there are sad times it's okay to cry. It's okay to feel all the emotions that human beings experience. It's okay for the girl not to be liked by every single person and its okay if she is picked last for the kick ball team. The point that the author was trying to make was for the girl to be real. To be genuine to who she is and no matter what, at the end of the day she's always going to have herself to rely on so she needs to feel comfortable in her skin. This is a good book for teachers to read to the class or for younger elementary school aged groups to read.

This is a new fiction book that I've noticed kids adore while shadowing at both Alcova and Duncan Creek Elementary. It's geared towards younger elementary school aged students for both boys and girls. I started reading this book 9/14 and finished on 9/14. It was a quick and cute reading about the two main characters, Gerald and Piggy. Piggy gets his ball stolen from a giant whale and Piggy is too afraid to ask for it back, Gerald being the good friend that he is goes and tried to get the ball back but notices that even the whale scares him. Towards the end of the book the whale returns the ball and they all end up playing ball together.

The family loves their sweet dog Biscuit and take him everywhere with him as they see him as family. Biscuit loves being included on all the family outings and enjoyed seeing the snow for the first time. There doesn't need to be any changes for her to be more loved or accepted. She is brave and bold and loves the person that she is regardless of the color of her skin.

When I was a preschool teacher, this book was all the rave! I've still continued to see it at both elementary schools that I'm student teaching at. Pete the Cat is a series book that students love! Students get to sing a long and get to see that Pete the cat isn't afraid of anything! This particular book is a spin off of the tortoise and the hare. Pete the Cat decides to race his friend. His friend is in a big shiny sports car but Petes on his bike. Mr. turtle thought this was going to be an easy race since Pete is on the bicycle so the turtle starts to slack off. The turtle stops for lunch, and even a nap! Once the turtle wakes up from his nap he realizes that it's too late and that Pete is about to cross the finish line. The moral of the story is to go slow and steady; which applies to a lot of things in life, for instance dieting. I would recommend this book to lower elementary aged students. Read on 9/14 and ended on 9/14.
