The first local Chinese school to teach in Mandarin.</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;Over the years, it became a government-aided school and part of unified education system. It moved to Marine Parade in 1982.</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;Refurbished as Peranakan Museum in 2005 and open for public in 2008.</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;Reminiscence of The Baba House. Bright colour, detailed textiles, warm environment, carved edges and architecture.</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;Actually a mixed of Chinese, Malay, British, and Indonesian culture.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Peranakan = “anak” means “descendant”</div><div><br></div><div>The first immigrants to settle came from Fujian and Guandong (China)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Place<br><br></strong>Gate of Hope – Beautiful, isn’t it?</div><div><br></div><div>“A chapel for entertainment purpose”</div><div><br></div><div>A place for abandoned infants and children especially girls.</div><div><br></div><div>Firstly built known as Caldwell House for magistrate clerk H.C Caldwell. Years later, Father Jean-Marie bought the land to build a girl’s school.</div><div><br></div><div>Architecturally self-contained city, groups of different styles buildings in different periods to maintain a diversity in aesthetics. Formed around courtyards and spaces, enclose with walls which scale with its urban surroundings.</div><div><br></div><div>The hall is made of early gothic style, finely detailed works, wall frescoes, stained glass panels. Filled with flying buttresses marks, flora, and birds at its corridors and each represent unique impression.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Place<br><br></strong>Was known as Iluma, forced to shut down because of community that complaint about lack of patrons&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;Government put efforts and revamp the place just by pulling in more well-known brands.</div><div><br></div><div>The architectural of the whole building designed by WOHA. Themed of the whole building is light and illumination. The “crystal mesh” facade envelops the convex part of the building and brightly lit billboards. The whole theme was inspired by its location surrounded with art venues and tertiary institutions.</div>]]></description>
