Eliza had been dancing at the ball with the major when he had complimented her dress. "Your dress? I hadn't noticed it. His eyes never left hers." They had danced in a line for 15 minutes which helped Eliza learn for many hours. The major had also complimented her "It was like dancing with a dove." That sentence had made Eliza blush.

Eliza had almost collapsed into the snow but Hamilton had caught her in his arms. He had laced together his fingers to aid in Eliza's dismount, when he was aware of how dainty her foot felt in the cradle of his hands. When Eliza went to slid from the saddle when she nearly collapsed in the snow, because her feet were frozen numb. She fell but Alex had caught her in his arms which made it clear she couldn't walk.

Eliza had asked if she could assist her aunt in administering some smallpox inoculations to the soldiers in camp. The doctor had agreed and there were already four hundred soldiers waiting to be inoculated. Eliza and Aunt Gertrude went to the camp while in a tent they had treated the soldiers. Eliza had seen Colonel Hamilton which made her flustered especially when he didn't have his military jacket on, it was more real than just her daydreams.

Henry Livingston had came to visit Eliza because they are going to be married in a week. Eliza had been worrying about what happens between her and Alex and wished for him too come back. Than to her shock the door had opened and Alex had ran down the patch. Eliza's heart was beating so fast she could barely speak. Alex was shocked when he saw Henry and his welcoming wasn't very brotherly like Kitty described their relationship. Alex had seemed a bit heartbroken when he had realized Henry and Eliza are engaged.

Alex and Eliza were chatting about Alexander's disappearance. Alex was comforting Eliza with his hand locked with her's sharing caring words with her. Alex had told Eliza that he knew she was going to break off the engagement with Colonel Livingston with her parents permission. Eliza was making sure Alex was okay by asking if he was hurt and he denied it by saying "Just a scratch."
