"Chaos is inherent in all compounded things. Strive on with diligence."
-Buddha

Some of my hobbies include: spending time with my wife and son, traveling, hiking, reading, watching tv.
But I'll give you one weird thing about me. It may seem weird and I don't do it enough, but I like to look in the mirror and reflect. This helps me stay organized with my direction, because without this organization, my life would be chaotic. I reflect about what my goals are, what I'm doing well, and what I need improvement in, both large and small scales and about all topics to relationships, education, work, parenting, etc. I used to do journals but it didn't really work for me.

"We are not makers of history. We are made by history."
-Martin Luther King Jr.

I believe history is an essential part to understanding any subject. It makes it easier to learn when you know how something started and its purpose.
Although I studied History as an undergraduate, I will be pursuing a mathematics credential. I believe emphasizing history of mathematics during teaching will help students in understanding the material. I would also like to implement critical thinking exercises similar to those I learned in history courses.

Below- Pythagoras

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it."
-Steve Jobs

I am taking EDSC 320 because about 6 years ago I was on track to become a teacher. I took all of the Credential prerequisites, but got sidetracked before I began the Credential program and never started it. After the past 5 crazy years I've decided to get back on track to become a teacher and found out that the prerequisites "expire" after 5 years. So, here I am.

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest."
-Benjamin Franklin

With 5 more years of maturity and wisdom, I look forward to gaining a new perspective on adolescence. I would like to gain a new understanding of the transition from a child to an adolescent. I think this would be beneficial in understanding what students are dealing with in their personal lives and try to be a mentor for them. Not only am I excited to teach subject matter, but I also want to be a role model and guide students to become their best selves.
