This movie connects to our essential question of What Shapes A Person & Their Perspective? The main character, Carl Fredricksen. He lost his wife and lives alone. He lost his only child when his wife was in labor, His house is the only thing he has to remember his wife by, and the city government is planning to tear it down. Because of all of this loss and pain, his perspective on life and other people is very bad and unhealthy. This is all because his past experiences have shaped him into being almost forever unhappy.

In the article ¨How the Berlin Wall Worked¨ the author, Ed Grabianowski, references lots of facts that relate to the focal text Escape From East Berlin by Andy Marino. For example, the article describes how people could be separated from their families. If you were spending the night in East Berlin before the wall went up, could wake up separated from your families or friends back home in the West. The article also describes orders given to officers guarding the wall, similar to Franz´s position. In Kurt´s story, he was about to use a grappling hook to scale the wall, but in reality, he could have just entered one of the many buildings that were attached to the wall and jumped down to freedom.

This song talks about how the main character endured tough relationships and how his perspective on relationships has changed because of these breakups and hardships. He has now learned to embrace his past hardships, his perspective has become indifferent about what people think about him. It's because his past experiences have changed his perspective on relationships.

This article, as its title suggests, describes how the Berlin Wall worked. It explains how some people had suspicions and decided to move west, while others were staying the night in the east when the wall went up and they were then separated from their families. It also informs the readers that the wall would cut through buildings. This made it possible, in the early days of the wall at least, to jump out the window from the second floor and escape to West Berlin. The article also explains the orders the border guards were given, and the fact that the amount of deaths is unknown, just like much other information about the wall. The last part of this article explains the poverty of the communist city of East Berlin, which explains the lifestyle of people living there.
