Syed and Lee would break up two times before their final break up. On December 6, Hae wrote an entry about her feelings for Syed and Don Clinedinst. Lee's final journal entry was on January 12, the day before she had gone missing. Police interviewed Wilds on the Marsh 21 and 22, but the first recorded interview was on March 28. Jen made it clear that Jay could, "make you think his shirt was green if it was blue" which showed that Wilds was a manipulator.
