AQA’s Unit Award Scheme supports all learning, irrespective of the age of the learner or the ability.  We have thousands of units covering virtually any topic or activity, which can be found in our library here:  AQA | Programmes | Unit Award Scheme | Unit search.  It is an on-demand achievement scheme where there are no guided learning hours, and units can be completed, and learners certificated within a short period of time. 

The scheme is used by educators in a variety of settings and can be used to support ESOL provision.  For example, learners can accelerate their English skills with our units here:  AQA | Programmes | Unit Award Scheme | Unit search which range from pre-entry level to level 2.  You could also support your ESOL learners with their progression aspirations by offering relevant vocational units.  For example, some of our units on hospitality are here:  AQA | Programmes | Unit Award Scheme | Unit search including Barista skills, being a waiter/waitress, keeping a café clean and preparing food.  You can browse our unit library with key words such as construction where there are 419 units, and care where there are 760 units including childcare, personal care, health, and animal care, using the appropriate level of learning to narrow the search.

Our units are used in a variety of settings as stepping stones to increase learner confidence, self-esteem and motivation, with the aim that learners will then be more equipped to progress to college, apprenticeships and work.  The certificates provide tangible evidence of learning and can be used to track progression.
