The drummer boys communicated and helped out in the wars. The drummer boys learned different rolls or patterns to drum fpr communication. They can also carry bodies from the battlefield and work with wounded soldiers. Sometimes, they would hold down patients with they were being amputated, and carry out dead bodies or severed limbs. They ranged from ages 7-15 and were able to be shot easily.

I remember the fact that they helped being a medic on the battlefield almost like an apprentice. Another thing that I remember is that they communicated with their drums, this made it easier to communicate because the other soldiers couldn't understand what they were saying so they couldn't decide the plan. They also had to endure the harsh training and a lot of memorization of all the beats for the drums and how to be a medic. Something else that happened to them is that they had to endure a lot of trauma and Ptsd after the war
