He felt he had to do something to change this situation. He wanted to  raise pubblic attention to the subject and delete laws against gays so he started a camping to become the supervisor of the city. He went around the streets handing out leaflets and talking of his proposals to improve the city. It was the first time he was involved in politics, Milk was not known by the people and he didn't get many votes.
