         <description><![CDATA[<div>With regards to marks for participation, I liked Paul's suggestion of providing general details of expectations in the handbook and awarding marks of 5, 3, or 1 over the 4 relevant weeks of problems 2 and 3.&nbsp; Although 3 weeks is short for Problem 1, I still think we should stick to that - after all it is there to get students and tutors used to the new course and quality of answers to Problem 1 less important than ensuring students have an idea how to tackle problems 2 and 3.&nbsp; For feedback on online tests, I would go with Sobia's suggestion of a grid of comments + a box for an individual comment.&nbsp; Finally, I would stick with the 3, 5 and 4 weeks programme suggested by Denis for the 3 problems.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Also forgot to mention the team work suggested by Frederica. Seemed a very good idea.  As well as a group leader there could be roles for: submitting the final draft for report and presentations; survey to collect primary data if appropriate or searching for secondary data to include; editing role of the report/slides to check for mistakes.  I'm sure there might be some other roles, perhaps more topic specific?  Mike</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Individual Participation Mark – I favour the idea of using an app based test on course material to measure this.  A test  would be far more objective and I don’t think it would be a big issue to enter these individual marks onto black board by the seminar tutor. I feel that the app based test should  work together with a rubric that also assess student individual participation in group work, discussions as well as problem solving and sourcing material for group work. This will enable us to provide feedback and some individual  comments as well.<br><br></div><div>Practice report/Presentation – I feel week 2 is too early and both should take place in week three simultaneously. We need to focus more on group formation issues such as theme based role development, getting students to work together, allowance for  late comers especially overseas students with visa issues etc. <br><br></div><div>Expert Lectures – It would be a brilliant idea to record the expert lectures from industry  professionals and then have our own repository of these videos that should help with student engagement with the issues. If we can get a variety of people to deliver lectures from the industry that will certainly enrich our student experience.<br><br></div><div>Group formation – Again it seems like a good idea to involve the students in the group formation and there should be some form of exercise  (from the theme based approach) for students to engage in which will enable them to identify different types or roles among them. The seminar tutor will then allocate the students into different groups based on these roles.<br>Preethike</div>]]></description>
