Petitions are mentioned on page 480-481 of Oxford. 

Today we are going to all contribute to a list of ideas on what things we could petition about. Think of something that you don’t support or that you think needs support and fill in the table below during our lesson. I will have it open on my screen so I can see your great ideas coming through.

6. Select a top 5 petition topics (from the class list) that you would support and like them by clicking on the heart at the bottom of the post. Then write your name at the bottom of their post as an electronic signature.

7. Then in a NEW post. Add your name and then explain in 1 paragraph the importance of being able to protest and have freedom of speech? Provide an example if possible. 

Some Ideas for petitions: A tax on sugary drinks, limit to amount we pay on phone bills, all educational apps should be free, banning of TikTok or Fortnite, banning of vaping, reduction of school hours, a compulsory nap/rest period at school, 4 day work week for adults. TRY TO THINK OF YOUR OWN.   

My petition topic is Banning Animal Testing 

I would send this petition to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) so they can use it to support their quest to stop it. They could then raise it with the House of Representatives.

People should sign this petition to protect animals from being mistreated and experimented on. 

I would get signatures by creating an online petition and sending it via my social media and email. 

I hope the outcome will be that new ways of testing could be found without having to use/hurt animals.

I would send this petition towards the coordinators of the school so then they can review it and discuss it to the principal Mr McNeil. They would then raise this awareness towards the school system.

Students should sign the petition so then people can go home earlier and catch buses earlier without it being packed.

i would honestly send this petition to the parliament so it can be implemented in the rule so we have more weekend so we can have more free time so we can go back to school prepared.

At the moment there are three school buses going towards Box Hill Central but none towards Westfield.

People should sign this because the public buses are always really busy at 3pm and there is always a chance that the bus won't come, or no one will be able to get on as it was too busy. (Meaning no one can get home)

I would send this the principal so he can better organize the school buses and/or the school times better around the bus times so students can get home.

I would get signatures by an online petition or perhaps showing the Vice Captains to post of social media.

I would hope the outcome to be: students could actually get home at a reasonable time for more time to do homework or more time to relax.

I believe that this petition will gain enough signatures {Abouts 100M-200M} due to the way cigarettes are technically meant for taking your mind off of stress, though it increases anxiety and tension.

People should sign this petition to lower the cause of lung cancer and many more, I will send this to hospitals, send this to the government & hopefully may the petition votes spread around as vapes and cigarettes get banned.

The outcome of this petition should be that vaping and smoking will be reduced and many less people will stop getting lung cancer and other types of cancers.

Students would be able to get more rest and being able to focus more in class. They would be able to get home early and be more prepared for school.

I would send this to the principle so he could think about how this would help the students.

I would get this signed by people in the school and captains and maybe teachers so then they could work less.

I would hope the outcome would be making two or one of the school days end early to help students.

Students would be able to sleep more and have more time to study for tests coming up. i would send this to the principle after students, teachers and parents sign.

the reason for this petition is that students and some teachers would have a hard time on thursday and friday during school and some people cant make it through the day without feeling tired and drained from monday, tuesday and wednesday.
