Hello dear friend, I have successfully escaped my evil slave owner, and the process was quite horrific there were many long waiting nights and long walks. I've never got a chance to say goodbye to you and I hope you receive this letter. A lot has changed since my children and I got put into slavery. We worked hard days in the cotton field in the beating sun. When we got sold I was separated from my husband and my babies. I got sold with my oldest daughter. Once we got into the plantation we knew right away this was going to be troubling. But, enough of the dreadful news as i don't want you to feel sorrow, these kind men helped my daughter and i up the Chesapeake bay where a group of abolitionist helped us into safety houses. I must go now but i hope my friend that you are safe and away from all this cruelty in this world.
