Apex is a FPS game that centers around battle royale. In the game, there are different characters you can choose, and different abilities you get with those characters. Before I introduce all the legends, why don't I explain the ability classes.
First, there are class based abilities. These are abilities that are  given out to multiple characters, based on their class. There are assault, skirmisher, recon, control, and support classes. These all have their respective abilities and I will explain those later. Then there are passives which are abilities that are always available and active (excluding a few special cases). Then there are tactical abilities, which are smaller, not as powerful abilities that have a shorter cooldown, usually being anywhere from 5 seconds to 30. Now we have ultimates, which are powerful, usually need to be nerfed abilities. These have LOOONNG cooldown times.
Now lets quickly run through class abilities.
Assault: can open special smart loot bins, as well as being able to carry an extra 30% ammo
Skirmisher: can see what's in the next care package
Recon: can scan survey beacons, which tell you where everyone on the map is for 30 seconds.
Controller: can scan ring consoles, which tell you where the next ring is.
Recon: can open special blue bins, as well as being able to craft allies' respawn banners, even after expiration.

-Newcastle, he plays football. American football

Controller:
