Kneeling during the National Anthem is seen as highly disrespectful to the military and those who have lost their lives to preserve the nation's freedom, so when Kaepernick kneeled to protest something, people were outraged. This ended up leading to lots of coverage of Kaepernick and his ideas which spread like wildfire due to the media. Although he is no longer in the league, many players on other teams still kneel during the National Anthem for the same reason as Kaepernick did when he was playing. This doesn't just happen in the NFL either. During the summer of 2020 in the NBA Bubble in Orlando, Florida, nearly every NBA player and the staffs of the teams would kneel during the anthem before games. This occurs in many sports all over the country and now even the world, all started by Kaepernick.
