Elderly Hispanic population find themselves hopeless and distressed, living in sadness and guilt.
Hopelessness is an emotion that could be linked to poor mental health developed during the lifetime or just in one term during their life. Elderly population could generate serious physical and/ or emotional illnesses or even ending in death.

a) People (Family/friends/volunteers) willing to help improve the lifestyle of these elderly people: Hispanic community necessities are very often hidden resources because of the language barrier, their help-seeking behaviors, and loss of confidence so they need more attention and checking-in so they feel more socially active.

b) Technology: Today more than ever technology plays an important role in communication. Before, it was uncommon to use webinars, virtual interviews or any other technological tools, however, I think today technology has solidified itself as an essential tool in our daily life.

c) Access to elderly homes/community houses/public spaces aimed at improving lifestyle of Hispanic elderly population: Whether it’s making community homes just for Hispanic elders or for elders with English as a second language, it is imperative that during their day to day life, they are entertained and made to feel wanted and cared for rather than sitting around in a home with the rest of their family. Activities, games, and even ESL/technology classes can be administered in these community homes or public spaces like libraries, schools and/or parks, so those space are often uncommon resources to use for that kind of activities.

The complexity of the problem – Wicked Problem

Hopelessness in elderly Hispanic population could be a consequence of numerous factors, such as, low education levels, unemployment, childhood abuse, abandon, punishment, low economical resources, dysfunctional family and/or environment, low access to medical care or non-existence of preventive medicine culture, etc., so there isn’t a clear definition about the root cause. Also, people involved have different points of view about the problem and the possible solutions.

Many obstacles make harder to diagnose and get timely medical attention to elderly Hispanic population that suffer of hopelessness, so no fixed solution readily available.

On the other hand, there is not a final solution and from my point of view hopelessness is a symptom of other problems in our society and it may lead to suicide, mental illnesses, substances abuse, poverty, lack of values and belief.

a)	The voice and experience of the Hispanic elderly population: Interviewing this group of people will give a better judgement of what is needed to help Hispanic elders have their needs met and also learn more about the kind of hopelessness that each of them have. It could be an underused resource but it is the best way to learn directly from the future customers and give them the service that they need to live with happiness.
b)	Time: It could be a hidden resource because each action involve time, time for planning, develop the plan, look for volunteers, time from volunteers, time that need to be used in a smart way to give the best to the elderly people while they are alive and healthy too.
c)	Passion, vision, and knowledge: are undervalued resources at the time of kick off a project or dream. Without passion and determination at the moment to find obstacles we will give up easier than when we have a vision about what we want, also knowledge is a resource that we undervalued because we don’t consider so often experience and self-education as knowledge at the moment of entrepreneurship
d)	Empathy and Love: without love and empathy could be impossible to connect with the people and sometimes feelings are more often to undervalued at the moment to start or keep alive a project, but from my point of view when those feelings are present everything can happen.
