They realized that they all deserve human natural rights within the government. Enlightenment ideas were spread throughout the colonies by books and pamphlets. The enlightenment encouraged nonsecular ideas and philosophers starting proving things through reason.
Puritanism impacted the colonial development by purifying the church. Some puritans wanted to separate from the English Church altogether. They established the Massachusetts Bay colony in 1630.
