PART A:
Keeping cool in a high-pressure situation

PART B:
The name of the video:
Calm Down Quickly and Keep Your Cool in High Pressure Situations
Link of the video:
https://youtu.be/sUOLlq7-ZNE
The name of the speaker:
Vanessa Van Edwards
Speaker's experience/qualifications:
She is behavioral investigator with Science of People and author of Captivate: The Science of Succeeding with People (2017). She is also a body language trainer specializing in science-based people skills. She runs Science of People, a human behavior research lab in Portland, Oregon where she studies charisma, influence and power body language. Van Edwards teaches online courses about body language, facial expression, nonverbal communication and lie detection.
One (1) paragraph describing the video content (what it was about, who was it targeted etc.)
In this video tells the story of how Justin Biebier managed his anxiety. There are 5 cues that Justin uses to stay calm and cool. The first signal is havening. Justin uses self-touch to soothe and reduce anxiety by rubbing his arms, touching the back of his neck, massaging his fingers together, rubbing his hair with his fingers and hugging himself. The second signal is to block it out. Take a physical break by turning aside and taking a deep breath. Facing away from the object that makes you nervous can reduce stress in a situation. The third signal is change position. He goes from seated in a chair to sitting on the floor to lying down. You need to change the way you use the space to stay calm by going to the bathroom, lean against the wall, lean over on the counter or take a seat. The fourth signal is to coordinate your goals. Develop a set of signals with your people where they know the cues that you send. The more cues you set out, the more in control you are. The fifth signal is empowering touch. Justin uses an empowering, comforting touch with others all the time such as hugs, elbow bumps, high-fives, handshakes, and fist bumps. Touch is the way we can reassure the people we are with
One (1) paragraph personal reaction to the video (was it valuable to you? Which part of his/her talk do you remember the best? How that affect you?)
This video has opened my mind where there are ways for me to manage my anxiety. I will use this practiced signal when in high pressure maybe it can make me stay calm. I was intrigued by Vanessa Van Edwards' words "don't fight the anxiety, embrace it, explore it, get curious about it”. These words make me want to know about the anxiety I have. Sometimes this anxiety makes me feel bad when making a presentation in public. I was often frustrated after a presentation but I never figured out how to deal with it. This video has helped me that there is a way to stay calm in a high-pressure situation.

Assalamualaikum. My name is Liena Qistina binti Rosli. Everyone calls me Liena. I am 23 years old and I am from Terengganu. I wish to learn about the basic skills that I need to have before entering the world of work. I was worried about my level of knowledge compared to others. This stage will make me feel less confident with myself and it will at once disrupt my focus. I am an introvert person and often stiff when trying to start a conversation. I am worried if this attitude will reduce my attractiveness in looking for a job as most employers will be looking for employees who are good at communicating. By learning how to communicate well, I am confident it can improve the skills in me.

I learned about self-awareness in leadership styles. Leadership style makes me think about how my personality and habits will affect my interactions with the people around me. A leader needs to be self-aware because their words and actions will be seen by their subordinates and will serve as an example for them to lead. If the boss gives a careless instruction, their employees will also make it carelessly. Leaders need to be aware of their own weaknesses and turn them into strengths to guide the team in a better direction. Having clarity about the best leadership styles can be empowering, giving leaders the confidence to make changes in workplace.
