This strategy can be used for any subject. I particularly like this strategy because you can really teach students what a good conversation is all about.
I use this strategy to help students with their writing. I have them sit in partners and read their writing to each other. The partner that is listening has to come up with at least 2 questions that they want to know more about in their partners writing. for example, I liked when you wrote about your trip to Mexico, but I am wondering more about how you prepared for Mexico, could you tell me more about that?

I use reading workshop in my class and require that the students always have something to show for the work that they are doing the time that I am not supervising their every move. I also really like this organizer because I feel that it does a great job at hitting a lot of the most important aspects of reading comprehension. Making connections to what you are reading will help comprehension because it anchors the new information to something that is already in your memory and usually has some emotion attached to it.

This strategy is very fun to see how the groups end up. You can be as creative as you want. But the basics for the strategy is to have groups of 2 where each partner has a responsibility and then they switch roles. It is fun and very helpful to alleviate any un-needed questions from students and so it makes your room flow better.

They will take notes that relate to how they feel about the video.

It helps to connect ideas to main ideas and to keep everything that is about the same topic together instead of all over the place.
