Commanded the AEF in Europe during WWI, appointed the first captain of the West Point class of 1886 by the President. Served in the Spanish and Philippine-American Wars and lead a punitive paid against the Mexican revolutionary Panacho Villa. He kept the AEF independent to keep them in control but to stay neutral. Pershing was known for his quick thinking and tactics that have him in the history books as one of the best Leaders in the United States military. He was one of the two six-star generals on the books in the US military and has only been giving to him and George Washington.
