She reigned from 1837 to 1901 and her reign is the most interesting and complex periods of British history, but in the same time was characterised by poverty, injustice and social unrest.
The upper class was built upon the old aristocracy. The working class remained excluded from the political process and grew hostil towards the upper class, they were extremely poor. The middle class was diveded into sub-strata: lower-middle class, mid-middle class and upper middle class. 
The sub-strata reflected the importance of a person's professional status and earning ability. This strafication remained intact until the First World War.
