Whole Class Journal using chart paper.  Ongoing vocabulary for the sun/heat (die cut). 

Immersion Week 1:
Lesson 1:  Intervention-Guided practice:  Can we feel the sun
                   Engage-Hook -Sunny day.  Revisit intervention
Lesson 2:  Explore-Do 1:  Hanging out in the shade. Mentor text :Wind and sun.
Lesson 3:  Mentor text:  e-book It's a sunny day.  Explore-Do 2 activity-Sammy the Snake.
Week 2:  Building Back ground knowledge
Lesson 4:  Elaborate-Science Rock-Energy:  Build a sun...Explain-Linking Literacy-Energy from the sun.
Lesson 5:  Safari Montage-Solar Energy-Vocab...Absorbtion, reflection.  Shadow Ville-Make shadow puppets.
Lesson 6:  E book- Mentor text-It's a sunny Day.  Explain-Demonstrative speech-Slide show.  Teacher brings items in to protect from the sun...sunglasses, hat, umbrella, clothing...put in journal.
Lesson 7:  Mentor text-Bear shadow.  position of the object and the sun. 
Lesson 8:  The Big make!  Explore-Do 3-Engineering solutions-save the chocolate. re-show slide show from lesson 6.
