Lots of students at Crane High School have migrated from all over the world and get the chance to start a new life around people that they have never met.

Ana Landibar is a student that migrated from Mexico. When asked about what makes living here different from her home country, Landibar said it's a cultural shock.

“Everything here is so different like people, school, and how you act or how you lead,” Landibar said, “but I like it because I can learn more things and get to go out of my comfort zone.”

Comfort zone can be defined as ‘a place or situation where one feels safe.’ Coming out of that can be very difficult and thrilling. New experiences and new challenges may be faced when stepping out of your bubble which can lead to backing out. Fortunately, Landibar has surpassed all of the difficulties and has overcome her worries. Landibar goes on to explain what's different about going to school here.

“School is better in the way that you have more fun,” Landibar said, “I like going here.”

She says that the difference between the United States and her home country varies in multiple ways. One example of the difference is the culture. American culture can be very diverse from other cultures in countries. Landibar gives her opinion on what is different from this country.

“The culture and people are very diverse and it's very exciting meeting people from all around the world that have moved here.”

Moving to a new country and starting over takes a lot of risks and challenges, but even with the barriers they may face, they push to succeed as much as they can while at Crane High School. This can prove to you that even from stepping out of your comfort zone and pushing yourself to experience a new culture and life can come with great happiness and success.

Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem performed at camp flog gnaw from November 11, 2023. The duo's performance was one for the ages. They performed their hit single hillbillies; released in may 2023. Their performance included a hillbilly theme along with Kendrick introducing himself as the “OG” hillbilly. The performance practically took the breaths away from the audience, and along with their performance they took over the night one headlines. Kendrick spoke to his younger fans, some he estimated were 9 or 10-years-old when they first discovered him, and guided them through his biggest hits from his 2012 album good kid, m.A.A.d city, his 2017 album DAMN. 

 Kendrick is a rapper, songwriter, and record producer from Compton, California. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation, and his music has been praised for its social commentary, storytelling, and innovative production. Kendrick has won numerous awards throughout his career, including thirteen Grammy Awards, and has been named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world.

Kendrick’s performance at the 2023 Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival was highly anticipated by fans and critics alike. The festival, which is organized by rapper Tyler, The Creator, is known for its eclectic lineup and vibrant atmosphere. Kendrick’s performance was no exception, as he and Baby Keem took the stage as They delivered a memorable set that showcased their unique style and energy.

The performance along with the hillbilly theme showcased Kendrick and Keem dressed in cowboy hats and boots. The song is a catchy and upbeat song that features Kendrick and Keem trading verses about their robust lifestyles and big flexes.

Despite the hillbilly theme, Kendrick’s performance was anything but discreet. He and Keem took over the headlining slot for the first night of the festival, and the performance was an energetic affair that touched many.

Fans were on their feet throughout the set, dancing and singing along to Kendrick’s biggest hits. Kendrick spoke to his younger fans, some he estimated were 9 or 10-years-old when they first discovered him, and guided them through his discography, performing songs from his 2012 album good kid, m.A.A.d city, his 2017 album DAMN.,

What do plan on doing when you graduate?

Trey Larsen- He plans to attend Abilene Christian University, and will major in Mechanical Engineering and play football.

Diego Garcia-He plans to attend the University of Texas Permian Basin for two years, then he wants to transfer to UTSA to graduate.

Carlos Garcia- He plans to attend The University of Texas Permian Basin, and major in mechanical engineering

Carlos Alvarez-He plans to attend Odessa College for welding.

Kyle Duran-He plans to play baseball wherever he gets offered.

Kevin Iniguez-He plans to attend the University of Texas Permian Basin, and study Petroleum Engineering.

Terrance Godette-He plans to attend the University of Texas, and major in Biology

Ivann Martinez-He plans to attend Odessa College, and has yet decided if he wants to major in Welding, or electricity.

Miguel Medrano-He plans to attend Odessa College, and major in Welding.

Kristopher Rizo-He plans to run track in college if he gets offered anywhere, but if anything he would walk on to the track team. Kris plans to major in exercise science, and kinesiology. He also plans to attend a physical therapy school, and hopes to open up his own physical therapy practice in the future.

The Chosen is a show about Jesus Christ, adapted from the four books of the bible known as the gospels, which each tell the story of his birth, his life, then eventually death. The story is seen through the eyes of people who knew him and The Chosen also shows the journey of choosing his twelve disciples.

If you are looking for a show that is a biblically accurate entertainment show then The Chosen is perfect for you. The Chosen talks more about the actual story than theology so if you are looking for theology then this show is probably not going to be exactly what you are looking for. The Chosen is more for entertainment purposes that makes you think about Jesus, his journey, and what he did for us.

Dallas Jenkins, the creator/director/co-writer of The Chosen, was interviewed to talk about the series. Jenkins talks about his career and future plans for the series. When asked why he chose to create this tv show, his response was, “I had a desire to create a bingeable series about Jesus..” said Jenkin, “I have always believed and always had faith.” 

A website online asked random strangers who watched the show why other people should watch it. An anonymous person online answered with, “My personal opinion is that not everyone who watches it has to be christian or religious. Though the whole show is based on religious things, it could just be a great show to watch because it is interesting.”

As for me, I agree with the anonymous person. I think that The Chosen is an interesting show in general but it also has significance to people who believe in the backstory behind it. In my opinion the show is relatable and meant to be relatable to get people thinking about Jesus and how he can help them. Overall, I really enjoyed watching this show and recommend it to everyone regardless of their beliefs.
