Person 1: Why bother viewing literature through the Feminist perspective? Why should we still use it to analyze literature?

The fight for equality for women has been an ongoing fight since women had voices (forever), and throughout time, literature has portrayed ho this fight has evolved. It helps encourage a continuance, as some things have changed for the better, but there is still more to go. We should continue to use feminism to analyze literature, because it gives an understanding of how the characters think, and if they are progressive or old- fashioned (also dependent on time period of writing)

Women and Men have never been seen as equal, women often viewed as the lesser of the two. In this situation, Macbeth is being the "weaker" one despite being the man of the relationship. Lady Macbeth claims that they have the same blood or the same crime on their hands, but implies her power over him in that she can mask her emotions unlike him. Lady Macbeth advocates that her strength is just as valuable as or perhaps even more valuable than her husband's.

When Macbeth does the insane amounts of killing and murdering at the beginning of the play, it is considered a good thing and receives high praise, but when Lady Macbeth is asking for power to do similar things, it's considered bad and has a dark tone.

3. The witches somewhat match with what society says is appropriate for women, but as part of another world as well as Macbeth's, they are also breaking some of those stereotypes.

1. What constitutes masculinity and femininity in the text? Masculinity is constituted through the men's power within each other and over others alongside expected roles and acceptance. Femininity is usually correlated with compassion, powerlessness, and destruction.

2.What are the power relationships between men and woman?
In a relationship men usually hold the power, as it was seen since early ages where men usually did the "hard work" making them feel deserving of power especially over the woman.
