Breakfast isn’t really a big deal in Croatia, but they eat Gablec or called Marenda on the coast, which is between 9 and 11am, it’s not breakfast and it’s not lunchtime. For breakfast they usually just have a glass of rakija (fruit brandy), a cup of coffee and a roll or bred from the local bakery. For marenda, you usually eat a platter of sliced cheese and meat. Instead of having normal cheese and meat, croatians use kulen, which is a hot and spicy salami, and paski sir, which is a cheese famously made from sheep’s milk on the island of Pag, where the sheep graze on nothing more than grass, various herbs and aromatic plants.
