During an economic recession during the early 1980's, to encourage Americans to buy more Canadian products to increase trade, Canada and the US signed an agreement to make free trade between Canada and the United States.

Pay TV is Introduced

Although television services opened a while before the 1980's pay television began to rapidly expand through Canada and the United States. This created many high quality television shows with a price that helped the economy prosper. Also, this created problems with American influence in most of the media that was shown on Television.
