All means of science, technology, and religion were based upon the same set of beliefs. Even logic didn't matter. For example,  Nut (the Egyptian goddess of the sky) was the sister and wife of the earth god, Geb. She was the mother of Isis and Osiris (brother and sister and husband and wife) and Horus and Seth (Uncle and nephew and brothers). But pure logic didn't matter to the Egyptian society. Foundation rituals were only a part of the pharaoh's job. He would get two posts to determine the spot of the temple, digs a hole to make it sturdy, places bricks at the edges, and puts in plaques of silver, gold, and copper. He sprinkles chalk for purification of the temple and it is ready to be built. Other rituals that included everybody were found to take place 5-10 times each month. These celebrations were for a specific god, and Egyptians would have a parade. Early Egyptians used to bury the dead in pits in the desert. However, the heat and sand of the desert would dehydrate the bodies quickly. Egyptians found that embalming the dead bodies and wrapping them in linen before placing them in coffins was a better way to preserve the bodies.
