This album is all about his life and the songs directly relate to his wife, kids and his career. I did not realize how much hate was out there about Thomas Rhett and his music until I started reading articles. He brings a different sound to country, and some of his songs are straight up not country but it is still really good music and that gets over looked because he considers his album to be country. In my album review, I used Ratliff's musical elements of Closeness and Density that are both very imminent in this album. I learned a lot from writing this essay over the album. I tend to look a songs as a single piece but instead I was forced to note about the whole album which was interesting.

It received a lot of bad feedback because he had changed his sound. His albums before that were more country and this one had more of a pop sound. This song makes me so happy because it is the story of his life and he talks about his wife and kids in it, it is very personal. This song is a great example of Ratliffs description of closeness. It starts out with a very old-timey sound of Thomas Rhett singing and then goes into a fast paced song. it is in this song though it is evident that Ratliff's explanation of density makes sense to me. His definition, “Outwardly dense music is often late-career stuff, over thought, unapologetic, a bit unbalanced.” ( Ratliff 140) was hard to understand but it makes sense when I hear this song.
