He made himself available to me online one weekend sending questions and answers forwards and backwards regarding my thesis when things were tough for me. Even though we were in different states I always felt supported. I was so proud when I presented my presentation and he was in Sydney watching and supporting us. Just last Saturday I was talking about him and his support and thought I should send him something as a thank you. I am so devasted to read about his sudden passing. He was such a caring and giving person the community has lost a special soul. John, I was very lucky to have been taught by you, even though it was just one subject. I always looked forward to your online class and felt truly touched by the warmth, open mindedness, and charisma you presented yourself with in every class. You will be truly missed. May your family, friends and students find bliss in the fact that you will remain in our memories as a true mentor, and the memories of the short but reflective time spent with you in the online class will continue to bring smiles to my face.
