Before we arrived at the beach, we stopped where people climb because we saw marine debris in the rocks that are in front of it. We went there and found a lot of plastic bottles, ropes, cans… it was full of rubbish. I took some things, what I took the most were bottles of water that were between the rocks.

I think there was a lot of garbage because in the middle of the rocks there is a small river that leads to the sea so the tide carries the things that the people throw to the ocean. Besides, a lot of people go there so it's normal that there is a lot of rubbish.

Apart from that material I’m going to need; a fine rope, color paints, silicon, bottle caps, scissors and beads to make bracelets. So the things I’m going to use are these:

First, to start my project, on Saturday, May 6 I went to collect rubbish with my friends, Olatz and Alazne. It was a sunny and hot day. We met on the new bridge at 11:00 a.m. We thought about going to the port but while we were on our way, we decided to go to Saturraran beach. We went walking so it took around 10 minutes to get there. Before we arrived at the beach, we stopped where people climb because we saw marine debris in the rocks that are in front of it. After going to collect the marine debris, to do the second step, I thought about what I could do for the project. In the beginning, I wanted to do a fishbowl with some fish and small pieces of plastic simulating the ocean that is dirty and polluted, but then I thought about it and I realized that I need a lot of things to do the fishbowl so then I decided to do a bouquet of flower with a watering can because I had all the things I need. Suddenly, I saw some pictures of some lamps hanging from the ceiling and they were precious so finally I decided to do those lamps. To make the piece of art I needed these materials: plastic bottles, leaf, rocks, nutshells, sticks, fine rope (laces), color paints, bottle caps, silicon, scissors and beads to make bracelets.

When I had all the things, I started the final step of making my model. First, I start cutting all the bottles in different shapes from the middle. Then I paint all the pieces of bottles that I had to make them more colorful. Apart from that I paint the stick I take on the beach. When I had most of the things painted, I paste some glitters, small pieces of glass, shells and some pieces to make bracelets. To hang them, I decided to use laces instead of a fine rope to recycle them because I didn’t use them. I did one hole in each top of the bottle and put the lace in and knotted it from inside. I knotted the other bottom of the lace in the stick, they were hanging from the stick but I thought it was something missing so I made some bracelets and put them inside each bottle. Finally, to make the final touches, I put another lace above the stick to hang the model wherever I want. I glued a leaf in one of the bottles' final bracelets and pasted three nutshells painted on the tips of the stick.

In the end, my piece of art ended up being spectacular. Onintze said we had to go to Zaldupe school to present our pieces. We made a panel with the visual thinkings and some photos and we situated in different places in the school. A lot of children came to us and we spoke about our project from the beginning to the final step. The children were having a great time but I don’t know if they understood something, anyway, they were having fun looking at the pieces of art. 

In conclusion, I had a great time doing this. I learnt a lot of things while I was doing this project and I learned a new way to do things in the school like doing visual thinkings or doing a piece of art. I liked this experience so much and I liked doing crafts. Although it was a great experience I would not do it again because there were a lot of things to do and sometimes it was a little bit tiresome. The thing that I liked the most was to go to Zaldupe and meet with the children and our previous teachers! Apart from that, we are wondering what we do with the writings and speakings. Well, we put all the things in Padlet website when we finished everything for the people that want to see the project.
