One thing that was challenging about pigpen was that in the beginning. But once we got into the pigpen sentence and we found out what the symbols meant until our teacher gave us some hints. But once we found what the shapes meant for the "#", my group found that the rest of the alphabet could fit into the "X" shapes. When we put the letters in the x we did not know where we would put the letters but once we found out it was a little confusing. Once I got down what all the shapes meant it was not as complex as it was in the beginning because all it was is looking back at the coding translate to actually translate the message the code that Mr.Kauffman sent us.

Today I solved a pigpen coding message with my team. My teammates are Jared, Diego, and Nick. At first it was kind of hard because I had no idea what I was even looking at until one of the other students made a observation. Once that student said that, EVERYTHING made sense. It was challenging when we were trying to see what the message was, and if it was the first letter or the second letter in the code. But then we figured out that the dots that were in the code meant it was the second letter. If there were no dots, then that meant it was the first letter. It was actually very challenging when I was trying to write my own message with code. We had to do dots, code letters, and make a message that was a pigpen. Mr. Kauffman , a high school teacher in New York shared the Pigpen with us. He challenged us to figure it out. When Mr. Bentley showed it to us, he gave us less clues then Mr. Kauffman gave him. But we still figured it out in the end. Overall it was really fun and I want to do this again.

Yulia was a really big help when decoding it because she had an idea that maybe if the symbol had a dot it would mean the second letter( that's why it always good to listen when people share ideas) and I probably wouldn't have found out what the dots mean without her.

I really enjoyed figuring out this pigpen code. It was fun and a little confusing at first but it wasn't frustrating confusing. My team instantly got it as soon as one of my teammates thought of the "hashtag" symbol like a dial pad on a phone with letters. Once we filled that in we kinda just amused that the x must have the last 8 letters of the alphabet that didn't fit in the hashtag and the dots next to the shapes mean the second letter in the hashtag or the x. The shape of the code told us what letters we needed. But it really helped when Mr. B showed us the first 2 letters in the hashtag because then we knew we were right.

The challenging part about the secret code is that you have to think a LOT in order to try and figure out one small detail. The other thing that was hard about the secret code is that our group had to keep looking at the secret code. When one of us would share an idea about what they thought about the secret code then the someone else would come up with and idea share their idea. That is what was challenging to me about the pigpen.

In the beginning, when Mr.Bentley presented this weird looking code that was given to him by a man in New York, Andrew Kauffman, it was extremely hard to decipher because there were too many theories that our team thought of, one of them being that each 2 letters in an area represent a symbol and we were correct about that theorie. The way that Mr.Bentley reaveled the letters of each code was like this: he first gave us the letters A and B then he revealed other letters and we filled in the rest of the chart. Since our team got the base of the code down when he revealed all of the letters we just cruised past the code in a matter of about 2 minutes. Here is what all of the symbols mean but this is not how Mr.Bentley revealed it to us.

This was fun because this code gave me suspension. It was hard at first but when my team and I started to work together it didn't really seem that hard. The confusing part for me was the dot part. I had did something like this in 5th grade at my old school but we never had much time to solve it. There was two grids one was a "x" and the other was a hashtag. When I first looked at it I was like, "I have no idea what was happening, like at all." What helped unlock this code was when Mr. Bentley gave us some little hints which really helped me to understand when my team and I were almost done I heard someone raise there hand and say that the dots probably meant the second letter and that was how we figured the code out it was complex but a very good source of thinking and working together too.

One thing I this thought was confusing was when I first saw it it reminded me of a different language. It was hard to put the rest of the alphabet into the "x" shape because we didn't know where to start but once we got a hint we figured it out. Once we figured out the alphabet it was pretty easy. The final answer was "what does this say?". After we finished it Lila and I looked at it closer and realized that the dots mean the second letter and we face palmed ourselves. I'm more than willing to do this again.

I had a lot of fun decoding this pigpen! At first it was pretty confusing. By the end of this activity it became quite obvious what it said. My group and I by the end still weren't really sure what all the little dots meant but we finally noticed that the dots meant the second letter of the two. For example, a square with a dot in the middle would mean the coded letter would be a "J" instead of an "I." We also realized that the hashtag was kind of like the dial on a cellphone were each number represented a couple of letters. We then assumed that the rest of the 8 remaining letters that didn't fit on the hashtag would then go on the "X." The thing that probably confused me the most was what order the letters went on the "X." My team and I worked pretty well together but I felt that not everyone participated and put their full effort into this code.

It got a little bit easier as we kept moving along through the pigpen. It was a little bit challenging for my team and I because we only had two people in our group but my partner and I worked together very well. Decoding the pigpen was really fun to me. I also liked making our own codes which the class would solve. The thing that helped me unlock the code was the first hint that Mr.Bentley gave us. He put down the letters A and B in this symbol: #. He put it in the symbol at the top left corner. That hint gave us all a very clear understanding of the code.

I think that solving the code is very hard if you don't have the letters, if you don't have the letters than the # and the X could be any thing, like you could put numbers in the # and X instead of letters if you don't have the letters, but once you get the letters and figure out that the dot means second letter it is pretty easy, because all you need to do is find the shape on the # or X, and deter main if it has a dot near it.

I think it was fun trying to find out what the symbols are. I think it was confusing when we had no cipher to help us crack the code. It helped to unlock the code when Mr.B. showed us the first corner of the # symbol then everything made sense.

Today Mr.Bentley showed our class a weird code, it was kinda hard to try and find out what it ment. So we used a hashtag sign and a X to help us. Also Mr.Bentley let us make our own code as fun for us.
