Global competition, product innovation, process development and advanced technology affect the types of careers that will be most valuable to students. According to the Association for Career and Technical Education, math, communication, problem-solving and technical skills are needed for many of the emerging careers and it’s the role of guidance teachers to educate students about these changes so they don’t make career decisions in a vacuum of information. Soft skills, such as being able to work well with others, leadership, work ethics, manners and social interaction, are vital for success in the marketplace, and career guidance teachers often hold classes that teach students those skills</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The role I have never done but I would like to do is "discussing other people that they know and their careers" that includes, as suggested,&nbsp; providing links to them to offer further career learning<br>opportunities  There is no special reasons, but it's simply&nbsp;because I teach english, and not a professional subject, even though I have to deal with all specific contents they learn in technology, mechanics, electronics, hydraulics and so on.If I am here it's just because i'd like to help my students more. I always give them further information about the new jobs, the future opportunities and I talk a lot with them about the new opportunities, according to new competences to acquire.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Since I work in a primary school and teach grade 3 most of these roles aren't present in my school. Most of the students at this age are not decisive on what they want to be when they grow up (one day they want to be a doctor the next day they want to be a dinosaur :) But I can take on a teaching role and discuss careers within certain subjects (especially STEM) in simple language that the students can understand. This will start exposing these young students to different career options from an early age. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the subject I teach (Personal, Social and Career Development), we dedicate several lessons to career related topics. In certain schools, a career advisor coordinates certain activities and sets up one to one meetings with the students at different grades. As PSCD teachers, we work hand in hand with career advisors and guidance teachers to offer the required support. However, I believe that CEL needs to be included in different subjects. Thus, more collaboration needs to be present between teachers of different subjects.</div>]]></description>

Having worked in a non teaching but science sector before entering this profession, I feel that I do have what to give to students in terms of ideas and experiences. Having said that, schools have career advisors to speak to. I do wish to be involved in senior leadership but I find this very hard because of lack of connections and I also often get to know about opportunities once the deadline is over. I often ask why this is so, why I receive certan information late.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It 'hard to bring the English model in an Italian primary school. I find it difficult to find those roles, at most you participate in the initiatives of external laboratories or scientists are invited to school to encourage children to learn through direct experience. My role is undoubtedly that of motivator. Then the school where I work, is part of an institution with secondary schools are participating in the competition for the STEM activities promoted by the Ministry of Education. Certainly it would be great to be able to use all of these "professionals" to support the growth of the students.<br><br></div>]]></description>

( Team Alternanza scuola lavoro ASL)<br>There are different role for teachers ( tutor d'indirizzo and  class tutor)<br>They take contact with company tutors and organize the student shift work.&nbsp;<br>The class tutor is a teacher who controls the hours students have made during the internship, the number of hours worked, and the assessment they had.&nbsp;<br>The class tutor communicates experience to the class council<br>The student is geared towards the best university choice for him or the most suitable work world.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I use the tutoring role (pastoral support - when a student asks for support) and sometimes teaching role (within the subject). In Romania, we don't have CEL or career advisers (as described in the study “Teachers and Careers: The role of school teachers in delivering career and employability learning”). There is a teacher who is responsible for the class, and this teacher have some of the responsibilities listed in table 2, for the career teacher. If a teacher is not responsible for a class, he/ she has no career guidance responsibilities.</div>]]></description>

In what profession is this necessary?” I try to explain that some careers, for example Engineering needs Mathematics, that is, everything he/she is studying in Math class it will be necessary if he/she wants to be an engineer. This is an informal conversation in the classroom but the 9<sup>th</sup> grade students have Vocational Guidance provided by the school psychology office. It is an interesting opportunity because students (from the third to the last years of school) go to work for two or four weeks (depends on the school) and they start to learn a job . The job is more or less in the same field of the subject studied at school.&nbsp;<br>More over, orientation is an activity to help students to understand theire future opportunity. There are meeting with professionist or with university that explain the various possibility.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Along my brief experience as teacher (less than a year), I’ve actively used tutorial roles, only because connecting subjects with careers and particular jobs have proved useful for me, and this examples had occasionally lead into discussions about jobs, salaries and labour market. Discussions had been always focused in ICT market, since I am a teacher of vocational studies and my students are in their last year.<br><br></div><div>I wouldn’t mind adopting teaching roles. Not the one included in the curriculum of vocational studies (there is an standalone subject regarding CEL), but maybe at an early stage of secondary school organizing professional visits, or drawing different job careers; not in vain I have a working experience of more than 10 years combining both public and private sector.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This is what is required for the STEM careers. It applies to all the others and to the different levels of education. My students have a great difficulty in integrating into a professional career, so they are integrated into groups that work the student's vocational skills. Then they are integrated a few days a week into companies, doing internship. Later, financially supported by the state companies can admit these students, with the supervision of other employees.<br><br>In the preparatory phase, in EVT classes they try different activities: cooking, gardening, agriculture, painting, carpentry, cleaning, etc. We visited workplaces. Participate in workshop organized in the school with guests. They are different students who need adequate answers to their characteristics (educational needs), but they are also useful citizens to society.<br>I use tutorial roles ( career informant and Pastoral support. When they finish Lower Secondary School they have to decide what kind of high school they prefer, either a Liceum or a technical school. It is still early for them to make their minds up for a well defined career, and they hardly happen to know what kind of job they would like to do, as adults. Therefore, my task is to advise them on the kind of high school that suits them mostly, referring to their skills.<br>At the end of Lower Secondary School, while choosing a high school, students are supported by teachers and by final tests.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In school, my tutorial role is “career informant”.  I try to support student’s career development, but it is distinct from the role of careers adviser because vocational guidance is consultancy department’s work. They orient students with tests, conferences, classroom activities etc. My teaching role is “within-subject” because I try to make link subject and CEL in the context of the wider curriculum. But the one I want to “Leadership roles” like acting as a school’s Careers Leader / Careers Co-coordinator / Head of Careers (middle leader position). This would be awesome but like I mentioned it is our consultancy department’s work.</div>]]></description>

I am a point of reference when they have to choose their options as they feel they can trust me and direct students in line with their capabilities. Unfortunately, I have to find time to discuss with students and usually I try to use break time. Since I teach in a  middle school where the number of students does not exceed 280 students and I am the only Science teacher, students ask questions within-subject related to their options. SInce in Malta, students are asked to choose option subjects to further their studies at level 8.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>To be frankly I only use at a very low scale the pastoral support. However, I work with primary students and parents and teachers(work-collegues) do not quite understand when I talk to them about the importance of the future and the importance of observing the course of the job careers. In my town and specially in my school teachers seem only obssesed with the academic progression; they do not see foward, and tend to ignore the necessities of the students. Secondary teachers ignore completly what I advice them about this necessities and about concuselling our students. It's difficult to make them realise that the world is changing and that the classic jobs are dissapperaring.&nbsp;<br><br>For me it is crucial to have as much profesionals coming  to school as possible. We need that our students realise of the vast possibilities that exist in the outer world. We cannot frustate them by only agreeing to their own choice. We need to recomend, guide and advice our students. They are LOST and need someone who starts their proffesional path with them until they are ready to choose for themselves. </div>]]></description>

I try to develop core employability skills using the curriculum. Nevertheless I would like teachers would be more active in this role, when it comes to visiting companies and organizations, and to invite speakers from the world of science and business. This does not always depend on the teacher, but on working in a locality that propitiates it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The situation for today’s school children is so far different from those of a generation ago that it’s almost unrecognisable. Many careers now require specific education and training, which might mean that the traditional academic route of going to university, isn’t necessarily going to give young people the best chance at landing their dream job.</div><div>The roles I use actively is carrer informartion and pastoral support. The first is as a career informant, where I share my experience of making decisions about what subjects to choose, whether to go to university, and what career path to go down. The next is in the form of pastoral support, as my pupils are likely to approach with concerns or issues, some of which may relate to their career aspirations. </div><pre><strong>I </strong>would very much exercice the l<strong>eading CEL, because I already work in the university. </strong></pre><div>My opition is that teachers and careers guidance professionals will  work together, combining both their theoretical and academic knowledge and expertise, to help young people learn about and explore the opportunities available to them.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I agree that there will be improvements in young people’s career learning if any one of these roles is implemented or enhanced; it would be very useful to develop this kind of whole-school approach to CEL but sadly italian teachers are not trained enough to act as career informants or in the delivery of career learning within their subjects.</div><div><strong>I use actively teaching roles</strong> as I usually make connections between maths and physics and CEL and try to build employability skills through the curriculum.</div><div><strong>I use less tutorial roles</strong> because my students are 14-16 and attend the first two years of high school: so they are not very interested in career decisions as they will start alternating school &amp; work only from the tird year.</div><div><strong>I’m not doing Leadership roles</strong> but I would like to act as a school’s Careers Leader.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Which roles do you use actively?</div><div>I usually use pastoral support to guide my students, above all when I'm the tutor of a group in addition to this, Delivering CEL is another role that i usually use actively contributing particular CEL inputs related to subject expertise.&nbsp;</div><div>which do you use less and why?</div><div>the roles that I use less are: Career informant because I only use it when I’m a tutor or somebody come to ask me about it but in the near future I hope to use it more.</div><div>Are there any roles you are not doing but want to do?</div><div>to be honest, nowadays I don't use roles related to Leadership roles:</div><div>Leading CEL, as well as, Senior leadership maybe for lack of knowledge or time but I would like to include them in my teaching classes.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Due to I'm not currently working as a teacher I will answer the questions according to Education in my country.<br>In Spain, as far as I know, these roles doesn't exist. We receive information about careers, we visit universities at Secondary school and we can ask questions related to our future plans; there will be always trusted adults to help you. Despite this, as I said, this roles are not assigned to a person. On the contrary, it is stated in the curriculum that every teacher should provide this type of help that a career informant and a pastoral support will provide you.<br>&nbsp;Besides, I think that only the good teachers, those who love their job and care about their pupils will do the within-subject role.<br>I would like that the role delivering CEL will be implanted in my country, as well as the Leading CEL and the Senior Leadership; which I consider necessary in order to support the students.</div>]]></description>
