The movie is based on a true story about Melvin Tolson, a proffesor at Wiley College, and his efforts to form the school's debate tim which will take part in the national competition. The action of the movie takes part in 1930's. Those were times of great injustice towards the black people. Their rights were endangered. Proffesor theaches the members of the club to have their opinion and defend it with strong arguments. They shouldn't be discriminated because of his skin color, religion or status. Tolson wants his students to work on their education and broaden their mind. They schouldn't be mere spectators. They schould take part in everyday battle between good and evil.
