There are a couple different situations where "good" people are manipulated into doing bad things by Iago. The first is Othello. He is manipulated by Iago to believe that Desdemona is cheating on him. Because of this he believes that the only option to make sure Desdemona doesn't do things like this again is to kill her. So, in his case what made him do bad things was feeling betrayed by Desdemona. The second person who was manipulated into doing something bad is Cassio. He was manipulated by Iago to drink his butt off to the point where he would fight Rodrigo, something he wouldn't normally do. So, in his case alcohol was what caused him to do regrettable things. 

Essential Question: How does reputation change our perception of others?
Reputation and perception are things that feed off of each other. Reputation in the first place is all about how you are perceived by other people. In Iago's case his reputation is kind of like a shield to the other people to kind of over look what he's doing. In the eyes of everyone in Othello Iago has a squeaky clean reputation and because of this no one suspects anything of him. Bacon's "On Cunning":
Iago uses one of the key points that Bacon talks about cunning people using. The point being, “It is a point of cunning, to let fall those words in a man’s own name, which he would have another man learn, and use, and thereupon take advantage”. He uses this while manipulating Brabantio. While talking to Brabantio he pretends to not know that Brabantio doesn't know about Othello and Desdemona. So, when Brabantio finds out Desdemona isn't in her bed Iago pretends to be surprised.

Bacon's "On Revenge":
Othello uses revenge when he kill Desdemona after being told by Iago that she was cheating on him with Cassio, and one connection with "On Revenge" is, "Is it saying that public revenges normally go towards some cause and the private ones are for the two faced and people who are scared of the consequences?".
