Tri-Levels Driver

I am always stuck on this one as I can make authentic change at the campus level. This year has been a challenge for our district due to so many changes in administration/executive level/board. I find it fascinating that the three levels are part of this driver. The last one, "the state," is difficult to wrap my head around. It is definitely, "easier said than done." I try to be informed of state-level policies and how to get my voice heard. However, so much of what educators - and students - need goes ignored by state actors.

In thinking of systems in place, I am constantly aware of the system in place that limits and or completely stops some students for succeeding. To quote Kanye, the systems working effectively thats why... So in terms of making adjustments and ways to leverage this, I think knowing the system is working against students is key. You have to be really aware of this unfortunately in my district. And then find ways to work around these policies.

SY 2020-2021 was all about change and it was sometimes chaotic. So much was said about students' emotional well-being (as well it should be!) but oftentimes, the teachers' emotional well-being was ignored or even infringed upon. Instruction relies heavily on the teacher so I'd like to make sure teachers on my campus are taking care of themselves so that we can then, in turn, take care of the students.

Utilizing individual strengths and knowledge to grow leadership beyond administration / counselors on campus. I actually spoke to my principal about this at the end of the year as I was frustrated that the campus doesn't leverage the strengths/talents of its faculty. Also, there may be teachers that desire to take on leadership roles or just do more to implement/sustain change, but they may not know how to go about it. Therefore, building opportunities for this to happen is important; as well as administration actively seeking faculty to support and develop strong leadership qualities.
