People who hold corporate finance positions at companies that are adapting to the new technology being made using artificial intelligence and machine learning are receiving an elevated role. With these advancements in AI and Machine Learning within finance, the employees will be able to better analyze data within their department to make better decisions for their company. The AI will reduce the amount of mundane manual work so the employees can focus more on improving their company's financial status. The AI can be very helpful for automating tasks such as payments to and from vendors and customers which will ultimately reduce the amount of time it takes for companies to make payments. The Machine Learning can learn about transactions being made through a company and help provide automated digital payments which will allow the employees to focus their time on making improvements to their company in the long run. The AI and Machine Learning will help the finance team make market predictions and forecasts based on the data it collects.

The future of business involves AI and there are some concerns about the ethics and transparency of using it. There are some cases of bias when using AI in personal finance including sex, religion, race, marital status, disability, and age which can hinder life altering decisions stemming from credit scores and mortgage lending. Both credit scores and mortgage lending can be decided by Machine Learning which is a form of AI that is used to retain data that it is given and use patterns from this data to make decisions. Although not directly stated in this article, I believe that this form of AI might be making generalizations from the list of biases above and use the data it has been given to make decisions that might not be representative of the user. Some skepticism has risen against Machine Learning in finance because of the lack of transparency for the algorithms being used to make these life altering decisions for people. in the future, when AI is being used to make financial decisions, experts would like to see more transparency in the algorithms being used and for explanations on why the AI makes decisions based on the data it receives.

This source was a big help in my research of discovering more about the complications with using AI for finance. I thought that there was a lot to unpack about the way Machine Learning can make up biases or generalizations about someone which seem to be irrelevant to their credit score. I believe that this isn't the fault of the AI but perhaps might have been from a gap in the algorithm that is being used for this technology. I think that the coders and engineers involved might have overlooked possible factors that could sway an AI's decision making process and need to spend more time preventing things like this from happening.

Possible implications of financial AI systems could lead to systemic risks involving herding and "disastrous resonance" for companies. The AI being used could develop it's own trading policies and investment rules that may override those of their programmers and users. The AI may also find certain information such as social media posts and news trends to be more helpful than the information it is programmed to use when making business decisions. "...systemic risks may arise when actors and their AI algorithms start following similar strategies and thus moving markets in the same direction (herd- ing), increasing the risk of severe market disruptions." When multiple companies use the same AI it will cause them to act similarly and try to achieve the same outcomes by doing the same things which will make the market unstable. The AI can also drive the prices of stocks down or up and can ruin relationships between companies and customers.

This article takes a step back from the implications of AI and covers technics that companies should use when implementing new tech to their employees. Its seems that the tactics that show the most support for employees of extended periods of time seem to work best when transitioning into new technology. The article claims that creating a sandbox style of the program can help employees practice with the new tech while not feeling that they are under pressure of losing their job if they mess up. It also gives an area for employees to take risks and be more ambitious which could ultimately help the company succeed. The article also states that a slow implementation will allow the employees to ease into the new tech and become more comfortable using it once the system is fully integrated. The last point that i think would be most useful for integrating new tech would be offering a ton of training. The article stresses that there should be multiple training services offered such as online, in person, videos, and readings that will help employees make adjustments going forward with new tech and systems.

Joe McKendrick focuses on AI in finance but more specifically in banking. He explains that AI for banks allows for there to be a reduced amount of branches while still allowing for personalization for customers and small business owners. He also explains that AI can help the banks themselves avoid "financial disasters" by making better financial decisions about risks and capital allocation. Another benefit is fraud detection and prevention services provided by AI. The AI can recognize unusual or irregular purchases and protect customers and businesses from fraud. McKendrick also adds that the implication of AI needs to keep humans in the loop so that AI empowered decisions won't "ignite the risk of prioritizing profit while ignoring social impact."

This article was very insightful for me as it gave me reasons why AI is so beneficial in finance. It taught me that AI helps banks and customers in different but equally beneficial ways. Banks can save money by using AI and give customers more options through personalizations features and reduce traffic to the branches.
