2. I liked that the book had a meaningful message that I will talk about later. The author also kept the reader engaged throughout the book.
4. The author had a variety of message's, but there was two that stood out to me. One was that you can start with nothing and end up with a lot. Another, was to dream big. Anything is possible, It doesn't matter where you come from or what you look like.
7. Before reading this book I felt hopeless and powerless about my future. I felt as if I had no chance in success for my career. Reading Reyna's story helped me get on the right track and helped me remember I can conqueror anything, If I put in the hard work and never give up or stop believing because all it is, is a little bit of faith that's missing sometimes.

I choose to read this book because it seemed really interesting and like something I could relate to.
2.What I liked about this book was the pictures included because it helped me to visualize the story better.
3.What I didn't about the book was how it was kind of depressing

2. I liked how the book was cut up into a before and after segment, almost creating two different narrative arcs that overlap over each other.
5. A prominent life lesson in this book is too keep on pushing through the hard times until there are good times. I do agree with this and when I am struggling I try to just keep on doing my best because that is all I can do.
8. One question I would like to ask the author is wether she feels her past defines her or her future. I would ask this because she could argument either way as her past made her a better person, but she also looks forward to showing what she can do in the future.

I choose to read The Distance Between Us because I knew Reyna’s story would be one worth learning from. With all the talk of immigration in the media I wanted a real perspective, rather than just the opinions of those around me. I also knew that Reyna’s story would be inspirational, after reading it I could now imagine how things could be worse.

What I really liked about The Distance Between Us was the overwhelming sense of inspiration I felt while reading. Despite the circumstances that surrounded Reyna Grande’s life she continued to pursue and achieve great things. She wasn’t always looking on the bright side or faking a smile, she wrote with authenticity and had the ability to see the big picture.

If I could ask Reyna Grande anything I would ask... Why was it you who did great things, rather than you sisters and brother who came from the same background? I would love to know what made her try harder, was it her way of seeking for her father’s approval, was she just coping with home life, or was it something else?

1) I chose to read The Distance Between Us because I wanted to learn more about how kids so young are left behind so their parents can go to "El Otro Lado" for a better life, And how their negative thoughts start to overwhelm them into thinking no one loves them.
2) What I liked about this book was that even after their parents went to the other side, they never gave up on believing that one day they'd come back for them and they took care of one another.
4) I thought that Reyna Grande's message of the book was to always think positive even when times get really bad and tough to face. You never know what can happen tomorrow.

1) I chose to read the book because in a sense I already had an idea on what the book was going to be about and what it would contain. I went through almost the same experiences and so I just had a very empathetic experience once I read it.
5) A life lesson that I found is that no matter the hardships that you’re going to go through, as long as you keep your hopes and dreams alive, there’s nothing worth more in the world than accomplishing your goals. I do agree with this because hope, even in the most dire situations, can be our strongest ally.
7) This book did inspire me to explore new ideas and to be open to anything and anyone, and that I should be considerate of everybody’s feelings because I don’t know what they’re going through or what they went through so it isn’t fair of me to discriminate against them. I should take it as an opportunity to get to know them better and to maybe even sympathize with them.

2. I liked how Reyna went into depth about her life. She not only talked about the good but also about the bad and everything in between.
5. There is many life lessons in this book but one would have to be to always work hard. I do agree with it because when you apply yourself and give it your full effort, great things come with it.
7. This book did inspire me to look at things from another perspective. It showed me that no matter how hard things get or if I'm faced with a challenge, that there is something positive in every situation.

1. I chose to read The Distance Between Us because I had never read a story about immigration before and I thought it would be interesting to see what it's like for kids dealing with it .
8. I would ask the author what hardship she had while her parents were gone made the most impact on her. I would ask the because I think it would be interesting to see which hardship shaped her into who she is today.
9. If I was a teacher I would ask the students a question about the theme of the book or maybe even the message of the book.

1. I chose to read this book I myself have family members who came to the United States and had to start a new life but don't share with their experience because it's difficult to talk about, so I wanted to know more myself how it felt growing up with a separated family and be more familiar of how my relatives felt.
2. What I liked about the book is that it was a real story that many people can relate to now and still go through this and Reyna was keeping it very truthful.
8. One question I would ask the author is what advice would she give young children who are going through like she did.

1. I chose to read the book The Distance Between Us because I was reading all the back covers and it sounded the most interesting to me.
2. I really liked how this book showed the reality of financial struggles affecting families like Reyna's. They had dreams that they knew they couldn't achieve in Mexico. Many others struggle through this daily.
3. If I could ask Reyna anything, I would ask her how she got through all the stuff she did without giving up. I've personally been going through lots of drama and it is hard mentally. Many kids can only fight it but Reyna never stopped, and her situation was way worse than mine. What made you push through when no one else could?
