Something that has been stretching me these past two weeks is our administration team. They are completely overwhelmed with other things. A safety plan has not been started for the student I did my case study on. Our school's policy is for admin to start it.
A moment that made me pause was when a student emailed me over the weekend and asked if I was up. Something told me to write back so I did. At school on Monday, she said she asked if I was up because she felt like she had no one else in the world to talk to. I learned that I hold more importance to some students than I assume.

Setting up a procedure and holding my boundaries with students following that procedure was a way I grew.

I learned that even though I may get some grumbles from students, if I set boundaries, most students will adapt.

In the last two weeks I've realized that I don't know if I want to see clients M-F in the long-term. I didn't go to second internship site last week and made me realize how having a day off can be so helpful for my own mental health.

Something that stretched me these past two week was learning when to pause when a client wasn't ready to open up about previous trauma. Taking a moment to respect them as a person and allow space for therapy to be what they needed to be.

I shifted my role within the community mental health center I work at this week. I went from working with adults in crisis to having a caseload of children and teens in crisis. I am learning about how I can show up as a counselor for youth vs. adults.

Been trying to get a client to change her way of thinking. And it has been an ongoing process of me trying to figure out how to stay patient, try different approaches, and see what works for her.

I'm burning out working with parents of kiddos in a school setting. There's just too much institutional friction. But that barrier isn't there with adults in 1-on-1 counseling -- which is good because I was really starting to feel like I couldn't work with adults.

Notes. I love notes but I let them stack up and realized i really need to identify the key information and get it synthesized in a digestable manner faster otherwise ill never be able to stay up to date on them.

My supervisor asked me to go talk to a group of high school students who are in a specialized counseling class to learn more about our program/ any questions for me. I was asked last minute and realized that last semester I may have freaked out, however this semester I took it as a compliment and went in with confidence.

I learned that I have the skills and background to execute my skills when I allow myself to trust myself. Along with others seeing those skills.
