Unequal Opportunity Race Response by Adriel Antoine

How does this video depict privilege?
What did you feel after each moment where the Black runners were disrupted?
Does this video do a good job of depicting the inequality in America? Is the video exaggerated?

The video depicts privilege as something that holds others back and propels others forward. More specifically, the runners of color who were held back & the white runners forward. After each moment where the Black runners were disrupted I wasn't surprised, honestly it's pretty expected at this point. I wonder how often people of color encounter these obstacles. I think the video provides a surface level understanding of inequality in America. There isn't much depth or attempts made to substantiate its claims. Which is understandable because I don't think it was meant to do so. At first glance it comes of as exaggerated because there isn't much explanation. There are loaded phrases without much added context other than that the runners are different skin colors. In a more in depth analysis, I like to see how these obstacles are holding black people back.

1.) This video depicts privilege as something that can evolve. As the years go on and more POC get more rights, privilege gets more and more advanced. Like when the black people started running and made it through most of the obstacles, the white man was built a personal road that moved him.
2.) The white runners got to run earlier, they had people help them along the way, handing them money, they had a break area, the white man had a moving road built for him, and they didn't have obstacles.
3.) Every time the black people where stopped I felt exhausted. It's tiring to continue to get your hopes up that maybe you'll have a win only to be set back more paces like you were running backwards. You get tired of the oppression, the false hope, and being let down so many times. At some point you're exhausted and you don't want to keep getting hurt, but you can't help but keep being a nit positive because it's how most of us were raised.
4.) It did depict America in an accurate way, which is the saddest part.
