1: "It isn't fair, it isn't right," the last few words of Mrs.Hutchinson as she was about to be stoned to death, probably feeling no other emotion than terror.
2: "Although the villagers had forgotten the ritual and lost the original black box, thy still remember to use stones." The villagers don't even seem to know why they are doing the things they do, as they have lost the original black box.
3:"It not the way t used be... people ain't the way they used to be" The old man is living in the past, not wanting to change with the new civilized age that leaves the lottery in the past.
4: "Tessie Hutchinson was in the center of a cleared space by now, and she held her hands out desperately as the villagers moved in on her. "it isnt fair", she said. A stone hit her on the side of the head." She is crying out in anguish, as the villagers would begin to kill her with stones for no apparent reason
5:" The morning of June 27th was a nice sunny day, with blooming flowers and rich green grass" This goes to show how a beautiful day would just be bypassed b murder, and still gone on to ignore the murder.
6:"Lottery in June, corn heavy soon" The corn is no longer even cared about, as the lottery has overshadowed it.
7: "All right folks lets finish this up" They want to get the murder over quickly to go on with their day.

From what I have seen and read in the story, it seems that everyone is fine with murder, and with living with the fact they may die any year just because of the lottery, along with their children and family members, they have no shame stoning some one, but when the time comes for their death, they seem to ignore the fact that they could be next to die soon, or maybe even that they would have to kill some one close to them. I believe with the fact that they could even deny dropping the lottery in the future is just showing how deep into a worthless religious like rhythm of violence they are following.

I am more than sure somewhere in the real world something like this is happening, perhaps not a lottery, but a worthless and needless sacrifice to a "God". Just like we used to do in christian and catholic religions, sacrifices happen everyday in the world around us, but just like the world in this game, we choose to live with them for seemingly no reason at all.
