American leadership was effective because they joined forces with the Cherokees that had settled on the Appalachian mountains. Four days later they joined with Joseph Winston and Colonels Benjamin Cleveland making the force amount to around 1400. 28 soldiers were killed and 60 wounded.

The use of land was not effective because they didn't take advantage of the rocky landscape which could have provided cover. Instead, they were placed out in the open where the Americans were able to take them out easily. The amount of troops were not utilized well because Ferguson chose to use all of his troops at once instead of sending them in a few groups at a time so all of the troops wouldn't be wiped out at once. The use of weapons at this battle was not effective because the British troops chose to use muskets which did not suit the land they were fighting on. They used muskets to fight and even though these weapons were faster to reload, they were not accurate and didn't shoot very far. Since they were fighting on a mountain, being able to shoot far would have been a good resource to have. The British also didn't have enough ammunition to support them because once they started fighting, they ended up running out of ammunition so they could no longer use their muskets.

The Americans mainly used rifles. Although the rifles were slow when loading, they were more effective and accurate when shooting.
While the British choose to be on the hillside of the mountain, out in the open. The Americans were able to charged on the hillside multiple times which demonstrated lethal marksmanship. This was good because they didn't send their whole army at once, they sent smaller groups which led to killing more men on the opposing side because they were sneak attacks.

The British strategy used was not effective at all. Ferguson placed his troops uphill, out in open while the Americans were down hill using the land as cover. After the Americans charged up the mountain and took out some troops, Ferguson instructed his troops to charge down the mountain, with no defense. Once they starting charging, the Americans were able to shoot them down as they charged since there was nothing protecting them. Since all of the troops charged, there was no one to back up the ones who had been shot down. Ferguson also ordered them to do bayonet charges which had little effect on the Americans. This strategy resulted in Ferguson's death and the British surrendering.

The Americans had very good fighting tactics. They used rifles, which were mainly used for hunting, they were slow to load but overall were more accurate than the muskets that the British used. Instead of putting theirselves in the open like the British, they used the land to hide themselves. The British were on top of the mountain while the Americans were hiding out on the sides of the mountain. Americans would send small groups up the mountain to attack the British when they didn't expect it. The Americans continued to do this multiple times.
