When he took over, Macarthur had tried to take all of Korea back for Democracy, freaking out China. But when he got into office, he put a stop to it and ended the Korean War by signing an armistance with the USSR. The USSR helped the North while America helped the South, causing even more tension between them as they fighting yet another war without actually fighting one another head on.
