Goods and services provided there are free, and it is entirely staffed through volunteers. Any resident of the community is welcome, though food orders are not given to walk-ins. Instead, individuals simply visit the nearest LDS Church congregation and speak with the local leader- called a bishop- who makes a food order with them based on their household needs. For me and many other volunteers I talked to there, helping at the food bank is our way of giving back. Many of them once relied on the charity, and it helped them gain back their self-reliance. Filling orders was my favorite part because I got to know these men and women more personally. So many of them live normal lives and need Storehouse assistance only temporarily.
