There were four main social classes in Ancient Rome. The Patricians were at the top of the class, they were wealthy and had a say in the law, and the slaves were at the bottom with no rights and did the dangerous jobs.
Does this Social Class system have any similarities to the Social Class systems of any other ancient civilizations?
This system is unique as it is not as strict as other systems. The idea of Slaves was common in most Ancient Civilizations. You could work out of slavery, but it was very expensive and not as common.

The Plebeians were not treated as well as the Patricians. They had to pay taxes and they could not lead in government, they also could not be citizens. But, that all changed in 494 BC. The plebeians started fighting against the patricians because they wanted more rights. The war lasted around 200 years and was called the conflict of order. The plebeians wanted more rights and law to protect them which was the main reason of war. Eventually, the plebeians got the right to run for government. They would elect a tribune what would be able to veto laws that the government would try and make. Plebeians could also marry patricians but one of the first rights that the plebeians got, was the right of 12 tables. It was a set of rules that were for the public which protected everyone.
Could Plebeians be citizens?
Plebeians eventually got the right to be citizens, and that was because of the revolt. Citizenship in Ancient Rome was not valued as much after that

Wealthy romans had a lot of leisure time because slaves did most of the work. The luxurious living of the rich completely depended on slaves. It was not as common for Plebeians to own slaves. Purchasing a slave cost nearly four times the average annual income of an ordinary Roman. So, you can only imagine how expensive it would have been to purchase a slave. Greek slaves that were captured had the higher jobs which required more skill such as, doctors, tutors, and musicians.
Were all Slaves treated well and did they have rights?
Some slaves were treated like family while others were abused. They could be set free by their masters if their masters wished to do so. They did not have any legal rights and were fully dependent on their masters. By law, they could not allowed to marry at all and could not own property either. So really, slaves were fully dependent on their masters.
