Life in america was hard as they now had to worry about staying warm during winter, providing for themselves in a new unforgiving environment, and balancing relations with the barbarians. This made the new land very dangerous at first but they eventually adapted and learned how to fend from themselves by being taught by some of the more friendly Indians. The american dream at this time was just to live without the unfair control that their government at the time had them under.
