Reasons why we should not have a longer school schedule.

1. If school do a year round scheduel the student grades will not go up. This was proven in 4 different states when the students grades did not go up.

2. If school did year round and parents wanted to take a vaction they would have to do so in a short amount of time and if the day care would cost more.

3. If school did year round they would have money problems because almost all year you have to pay teachs, eletricity, heater and air condision.

1: My first reason why we should not have a longer school year is that larger districts have tried the year-round school year and did not see a difference.

2: My second reason is that a longer school year can cause stress on students and would have to change daycare schedules for kids that have no guardians at home during after school hours.

Reason 1: My reason for saying no is because if there were extra days added to the school year there would be more costs for school breakfast and lunch.

Reason 2: Parents or siblings that can drive will have to change their schedule and plans to come to pick you up once school is finished.

Reason 3: There is already summer school for kids who failed their grade. There is no need for a longer school year. Kids already get overwhelmed by homework and stressed out with homework as well. If an overwhelmed kid found out they were going to summer school and the school year had been extended that's about enough to make one want to drop out!

Reasons why school should not be extended.

Reason 1: Teacher shortage. Due to the pandemic, teachers have been out sick and there are not enough substitutes to fill in. Also if school is longer most teachers will not want to work and there would be barely any teachers.

Reason 2; Diffrent kid, different schuldule.
If a parent has two kids in two different school levels, like high school and middle school. The schedules could be different and the parents would have trouble handling it.

Reason 3; Summer school. Why would a school need to be year-round if we have summer school? Summer school teaches students who need extra learning.

1. Parents that don't pack up lunches will spend more money on lunches at school and will start to pack up lunches will give parents a headache on packing up lunches every day and the school would stop getting money off of lunches.

A longer schedule doesn't help their scores, instead, it would give the students stress because they would have more work over their heads, and most important... it would be summer school but it doesn't help students. And parents would get a headache because they would be helping their kids and stressed about the schedule.
3. Summer Skipping
This will be a problem for younger kids who go to summer early. Younger kids will have a much shorter summer break and will be more school. Younger kids will start to beg for more of a break and they would not have enough fun family time for those who plan for visits to their older ones. And Summer Break is like a break from stress and work for working hard, not a shorter week just to start school early again and do it almost all year long.

This is why there should not be longer School time.

1. According to this summary it says That in one of the schools 55% Of staff did not come to the School board is because of COVID-19 or something else. This is because we already start with 5 days a week they would have added another day so this causes one day which is Sunday left of the week to focus on family and not school.

2. There are 12 Months of the year 11 of them are for school and some days from June and august have a few days after and before so that causes 1 month. That means that July is a whole month by itself and that creates two months for summer and we will need longer months for summer.

3. Lastly Most schools have Summer schools so I really don't think they should extend school weeks. I believe they should keep it the same. The school hours are 7-13 Hours of a school day and then when you go home you have about 3-5 hours to spend time with family.

These are my reasons why school should not be any longer.

Parent Problems
Year-round schedule schools would be a problem for the parents since they want to spend time with their children. Parents would have a terrible time if their child did have longer times of school and they could not spend their time with the parents more.
Children struggling with Year-Round school
Usually, children struggle with a problem and all. But they have to go to the Year-Round schools if they are struggling a lot. It is very scary to be in there because there is no free time, there is probably no recess, no freedom. It is basically an alternative school.
Summer skipping
Holidays are very special because you have no school on those days. Year-Round schools get rid of that fun because you have an extra week from that holiday. Parents do not like that stuff because again, they want to spend time with their children. The Year-Round schools basically are like alternative school and summer school, but it's way worse. So that is my 3 reasons why we shouldn't have the Year-Round schools.

Some people think that the school year should be longer, And other people think the school should be longer. Because some people prefer to have more work.

A lot of the teachers and parents and students think it shouldn't have a longer school year because some students need a break.
some schools have a longer school year because covid19 so they have to be in school longer.

As much as kids need to learn they also need free time/ their own time for their mental health. Kids don't even get enough time of their own as it is, but to add even more school and less free time is very bad for a kid's mental stability.

Think of the transportation problems,
it would be very hard for parents to make time for work, dinner, cleaning, etc.
Parents work lots and some parents take night shifts so if our school day were longer our parents would have to pick their kids up at night.

Kids already get and give germs off every day but to be in school longer it would be easier to get covid.

People think we should have a longer school year because it would help students and teachers get extra time to teach the stuff they need to teach.
1. Because if we had longer school years students that would struggle in any subject like math or reading would get extra help in the subject they are failing.
2. Covid-19 has ruined how much time schools we get all last year and this has been mess we have to wear masked and last year we were on zoom for more than half of the year and we didn't really learn anything.

I don't think we should have an extended school year because:

1: Summer break was made so that the students get a break to get ready for the next school year and have fun, but if around half of it is removed, it could cause a lot of stress.

2. Summer school was made for a reason: to help students who didn't pass, and if there are special teachers that work for summer school, and if they don't work, they don't get paid.

3. Many parents have jobs that go year-round, and in summer break, the kids can just stay home. But, if they were to go to school for longer, the parents would have to worry about picking up their kid, and waking up earlier than usual.

1. I think the school year shouldn't be longer because if we have a longer school year kids won't be able to spend time with their family, friends, and pets. Kids need time to relax their brain. if they wanted a longer school year they can be home-schooled or they can practice till they can remember everything.

I don't think the school year should be longer. The reason I don't think the school year should be longer is that the staff will work longer and harder, extra days do not help the student learn, and the school will have less money.
The first reason I don't the school year should be longer is because the staff will work harder and longer. At my school, the staff already work hard enough trying to keep the school clean, and teachers trying to plan your next lesson.

Having eight hours in school is enough stress and pressure is fine we have to go to tutoring and the only break of freedom we get is lunch, recess and specials are fine enough but come on the teachers should not have to work even harder, the students should not have to work harder and it would just be unfair not to mention that we also have homework now and then and the tests, the tests are so original we have to review everything and get a good night to rest I'm fine with that but the fact that we extended school time I would fall asleep at the scenes I would have every excuse to stay home. But if the school were longer that would make my life more stressful until I just snap and go crazy I would be babbling about the school year being that long I would also feel bad for the people in the learning tree, I mean all of that work and still have to go to learning tree. 1. School is super stressful on both students AND teachers. Some students like me get so stressed out they forget what to do.
