The main cause of the French and Indian war was caused by Indian Americans wanting to keep control over their land. The French main goal was to claim the Ohio River Valley. The British ended up taking the victory and claiming the land. The natives had a disadvantage due to the fact the British soldiers were a lot more skilled. This event was so important and looked at as a major turning point to the American Revolution because it increased Britain's control. Once Great Britain got control, it ended the Salutary Neglect. A lot of residents were upset because they were not used to the strict policies.

“The French and Indian War - Unit 2 - What Were They Fighting for - Teachers (U.S. National Park Service).” Nps.gov, 2022, www.nps.gov/teachers/classrooms/the-french-and-indian-war-unit-2-what-were-they-fighting-for.htm#:~:text=The%20American%20%20Indians%20where%20%20fighting.
Stamp Act- 1765

After the French and Indian war, this war left Britain in terrible debt. Debt due to supplies, weapons, etc. Because of this, they created the Stamp Act. The stamp act was to tax Americans and force them to pay taxes on Stamps. Like mail, newspapers, etc. The main goal of this is to somehow fish their way out of debt by charging taxes. This Act had an impact on the upbring of the Articles of confederation. But because of this act, it allowed colonies to come together and form an alliance in opposition to Britain's policies. This act truly sealed the deal on the fact that they do NOT like Great Britain.

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. “The Stamp Act, 1765 | Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.” Www.gilderlehrman.org, www.gilderlehrman.org/history-resources/spotlight-primary-source/stamp-act-1765#:~:text=The%20act%20required%20the%20colonists.

‌

The Boston Tea Party was an event held where the American Colonists, who were disguised as Mohawk Indians, dumped 340 chests of tea into the water. The Boston Tea Party was a symbolism of American colonists protesting against the tax on tea. It was an attempt to assert dominance and get control back. This truly shows the American colonists were against the British Parliament.

The National Archives. “The National Archives.” The National Archives, vol. 1, 2015, www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/, https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/.

‌

Intolerable Act- 1774

The Intolerable act was Great Britain's response to the Boston Tea Party. This response was to reassert control over the American Colonists. Letting them know that at the end of the day, they’re still in control. So they decided to pass a series of 4 laws. The Quartering act, Boston Port act, Massachusetts Government act and the Administration of of Justice Act. The tension continues to rise. The American Colonists feel as if their liberties and rights are being stripped away. Because these laws passed, it provided housing for British Soldiers. The Soldiers can go and sleep in the American Colonists houses without consent. The American Colonist had to provide free hospitality. This only fueled the urge of rebellion.

“The Coercive (Intolerable) Acts of 1774 | George Washington’s Mount Vernon.” Www.mountvernon.org, www.mountvernon.org/library/digitalhistory/digital-encyclopedia/article/the-coercive-intolerable-acts-of-1774#:~:text=The%20Coercive%20Acts%20of%201774.

‌
