A function is a relationship that maps one variable (x) to another variable (y). There is a requirement for each distinct x variable to have only one unique output. The variable that influences the other variable is called the independent variable (x). The variable that is influenced or depends on the other variable is called the dependent variable. With the definition of a function in mind complete the following assignment.

Find a classmate that you do not know. Find out where their family is originally from. Investigate one major issue(s) that negatively or positively impacts that country.

-Locate the region of the world where the country is situated.

-Describe the positive or neagative issue.

-Determine if the issue is a function or could be described as a function (if not a function find an issue that is).

-Identify the independent and dependent variables

-Offer solutions if the issue is negative.

-Think of ways how the situation could be duplicated inAmerica if its positive.

Precalculus students investigate asymptotic relationship in some of the conflicts that are currently occurring around the world. Here are some of their raw audio recordings as they present the asymptotic relationships that they uncovered. 31-GK and 32-Gk were the indicators that guided the assignment. Students were assessed on the following areas: their ability to indicate that conflicts are borderless and how conflicts impact local communities; their ability to identify that these conflicts have global implications are that they are complex; and that easy solutions to these conflicts are almost always elusive.
