However due to advancements in cartography or lack thereof, the maps look a lot different. The main subtractions from the original territory of Venezuela include some of the south eastern coast from between 1840 and 1920. From 1920-1947, some of the southernmost part of Venezuela was given to Brazil and Columbia got some of the  North Western part of Venezuela, Maracaiba. At the head we have the president, Nicolas Maduro who is also the Chief of State. There is immense tension between the citizens and the Government of Venezuela. There is an ongoing political crisis with the main conflict being on the socialist president, Nicolas Maduro. While he was on his first term of Presidency, Venezuela's economy went to shambles and whether or not that was his fault is debateable. There is a threat of impeachment and many ongoing protests against Nicolas Maduro. After various policies to "help" the poor, the annual inflation rate reached 1,300,000% in the year to November 2018.
