The purpose of this assignment was to be able to recognize and honor where you came from and who you are as well as the role that you have in society. 

I chose Rocky Point as my pinned place because the reflexivity statement is about identity and even though I was born in the United States I grew up in Mexico. I consider that this place reflects my reflexivity statement.  

When starting to plan my reflexivity statement, the first thing I did was read the rubric to analyze what my project needed to include. I started to think of who I was, Where I was at that point in my life, my background, and my future. I knew when to stop writing when I could not think of something else to add. If I continued to write I would not make sense with the rest of my paper. I do not consider myself a writer because I honestly do not like to write but I enjoyed writing my feelings or doing research on topics that I consider interesting. 

From my first draft to my final draft I used the feedback on my first work to make changes to my final assignment. I read my draft more than once to make adequate changes to my project. 

I had a strong feeling when writing this assignment since it talks about my life and my background defines who I am as a person. I do not believe I would be writing something similar for a while. 

The purpose of this artifact was to tell a story to the reader, a story that had a meaning on the borderlands. 

I chose Lukeville, AZ as my pinned place because it was the place described on my StoryMap.

For this project, I conduct my research by doing interviews as well as documenting online sources like articles, news, and images. I traveled to the border and asked for permission to take photos for my StoryMap, that is how I got my pictures. I observe the differences between the Mexican side and the American side to be able to summarize the differences in my work. I record the interview as well as videos that help as a resource to make it more interesting. While doing this research I learn how to plan your intention, your purpose, the audience, and the genre. By doing that you would have a completer and more organized project. 

For this project, it was important to follow the genre and the audience as well as other factors, but for this topic the audience and what the sentences were put together were important. 

I felt great conducting this assignment, the fieldwork and the actual writing were interesting and fun to develop. This relates to the rest of my writing because I want to make a career based on immigration laws which can relate to the type of writing this assignment has. I would be writing something like this project in my future classes with a focus on borderlands.

The purpose of this assignment was to analyze a diversity of text of the student's choice to develop an essay on the variety of topics that were chosen.

I chose Tucson Arizona as my pinned place since this is the place where I have learned to develop my knowledge of borderlands. 

 The method that I used to analyze the various texts was reading and taking notes about the subjects I found to be important or a good subject to discuss. When reading the texts I felt a sense of belonging since they were describing the Mexican American Community. I read all of the text and I was taking notes so it was easier at the end to develop Ideas. 

I learned that rhetorical analysis is important to make your text more organized, Interesting, and adequate for your intended audience. Understanding the rhetorical choices taught me how to develop my work.

I felt a sense of belonging while reading this text and doing the assignment, this relates to the rest of my writing when it comes to analyzing texts. I believe I would continue doing this type of work in my future courses at the U of A. 

The purpose of this artifact was to get to know deeply the border communities as well as the environmental problems caused by the border walls.

I chose Nogales Az as my pinned location because it was the place where our field trip was. And the location that we tour to get to know more of the borders.

For me, a borderland is a place that can be determined by the law or the government. For me a border can also be more personal, it can be walls that you build on your safe or between form two or more things. 

Being a writer of the borderlands at the University of Arizona has allowed me to grow as a person and as a student at the same time. I learned that the University gives great opportunities to students who want to get more knowledge about the borders, even though the University doesn't have a large percentage of Hispanic students, several classes provide the learning of the Hispanic culture, which is related to the borderlands. 

My engagement with borderlands at the end of this field trip grew in knowledge because I was able to learn from a border culture, I was able to experience how it is to live on the border, and I learned from different perspectives and experiences. Being able to learn about what was previously mentioned made me a better writer in the borderlands field. 

From my perspective, this activity did not influence my identity or my sense of belonging, but it did make me find a purpose in my writing related to the border.
